Hypnotherapy is another way of saying therapy done in a hypnotic state.
This was a description offered to me by one of the facilitators of the class I attended. I thought it was a useful short way of framing what hypnotherapy is. What I've found in working with clients since my training a month ago is, there is still a need for additional description.
When hearing the word "hypnosis" most people conjure up images of stage hypnotists who are able to get audience members to engage in all manner of strange and sometimes embarrassing acts.
It's important to note that this is not at all what hypnotherapy looks like nor does it reflect the goals of using this very powerful tool in helping clients to address their emotional pain or the restrictions that can frequently be imposed by one's limiting beliefs.
For more information on hypnotherapy, see the page (currently under construction) that provides a more detailed explanation of the hypnotherapy process and how you could benefit from using this powerful technique to help you effectively address the challenges you're currently facing.
